Coloring Curly Hair
Getting your hair done can be so relaxing and it’s always fun to get a new color done! But what is recommended for coloring curly hair?
- Make sure you’re going to a stylist that understands curly hair. It’s number one because it’s so important!
- Make sure they’re not using color with harsh ingredients like ammonia.
- Understand what kind of color you’re using. Is it demi-permanent, semi-permanent or permanent? Demi lasts up to 20ish washes, semi lasts only up to 10 and permanent is obviously the longest lasting.
- If you can afford it, avoid henna or box colors. They may be affordable in the short term, but they ultimately cause a lot of damage to your hair in the long run. The color in boxes isn’t designed for any specific hair type and there’s no way of knowing how strong the ingredients are or how long it’s been on the shelf.
We always advise going to someone who is well versed in curly hair, not only for the cut but for the color. Of course, using our products afterward to ensure that your hair is in the best possible condition too!
